Dr. Jon Thorhallsson, CECUA President, was an invited guest speaker at the YES for Europe 11th Annual Forum held in Istanbul November 15 to 17. The Forum was organized by Tügiad, the YES Turkish member association and also supported by the European Commission and ISBANK, the largest bank in Turkey.

YES was CECUA Partner for the Citizens in the Global Information Society Conference in Brussels 1998.

Presently, there are 11 YES European national member associations. The Forum focused on several issues including what makes up young entrepreneurs and the accession of Turkey to the European Union.

Dr. Jon Thorhallsson spoke in the session about young entrepreneurs and their needs for a highly efficient and effective IT supported working environment focusing on the user perspective. The user environment goes beyond the cumbersome and dragging laptop, palmtop and mobile phone environment. A new paradigm is necessary to overcome the body's physical limitations imposed by finger size and eyesight. He suggested that retina scanning and voice control were key technologies involved in this new paradigm he called head top.
